Going along with my weekly comics and geek culture blog, a new podcast to talk about all things comics industry, from a female perspective. NEW EPISODES WEEKLY! Check in Mondays for Comic Book Culture and News, comics in other media and pop culture news, and New Comic Release Discussions from that week! If it has to do with comic books, I’ll cover it here. Special Edition Podcast Episodes are uploaded at least monthly, covering comics history, character backgrounds, MCU and DCEU discussions, and whatever else strikes mine and the audiences fancies. Topics discussed tend to include ideals of social justice, representation in all media, and queer topics, so don’t be surprised! This podcast comes from a progressive queer woman’s perspective. Language is clean unless I get too excited. Come get ”sweaty” about nerdy stuff with me!

Hello world! I'm recording this week's "B" episode early on Thursday, but I still have a exciting, long episode for you all! After a brief bit of smaller news stories (including how the premier of Riri Williams' Ironheart will be in Wakanda Forever!), we go directly into the weekly comic book pick list. It was an enormous week of comics to discuss, but my favorites were easily the Trial of Magneto #1, Superman and the Authority #2, and Killer Queens #1! For an explanation on Tom King's Bat/Cat relationship as it's been laid out so far, and for how to understand the events of Batman/Catwoman, see episode 20A!
After the comics are the shows, which this week means What If...? episode 2 on Disney+ and Titans season 3 episode 4 on HBO Max! The former held an episode titled "What if T'challa became Starlord?" and offered a ton of delightful alternatives to the Guardians of the Galaxy and various Avengers casts, while the former introduced a fan favorite villain in an episode named after her: Blackfire. Being enamored with her portrayal in the show so far, I did some research on Komand'r's comic origin and history to compare to her show version as we see it play out, all of which is discussed here.
The two trailers that came out this week were for Star Wars Visions, an anthology anime series of 9 episodes created by seven top-tier Japanese animation studios, and the second was for Eternals, in which we got the first bit of plot details for the upcoming MCU film. I'm desperately excited about both projects, and have all the information available for them discussed in the episode.
Finally, and importantly, I'm talking this week about Substack. If you're a comics fan, odds are you've heard this company name floating around your circles of late, and there's several valid reasons why. In this discussion, I cover the topics of: What is going on with Substack? What creators have signed on? What is the creator draw to Substack? Is this sustainable? How will this impact the comics industry as a whole? And, what are the criticisms? I hope I answer any questions or concerns you may have over this topic, but I'd also like to know the opinions on Substack and what they're doing right now, from other comics readers, specifically. Are you planning on subscribing? Will it replace your traditional pull list? Do YOU think it will last, or will drastically change the industry? Let me know your thoughts!
I'll be back for episode 31A on Monday, August 23rd, discussing the coming comic book pull list for the week, possibly the finale of Superman and Lois, and whatever hits the news between now and then. Till then, party responsibly, live with empathy, and get sweaty about what you love.
