This is the one, the Ahsoka episode! Adam joins me for a (lit, tbh) long hour-plus discussion of the show so far, at the end of this episode! Let's do it.
Podcast notes for this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep104-ahsoka-hour-the-star-card-knight-terrors-wrap-up-gotham-war-explained-fall-of-x-catch-up-more-comicsmangaanime
Kicking it off with TAROT 00:05:46 and our Card of the Week, #17: the Star! After the history and symbolism, I cover the card's Interpretation/Meaning 14:55, and finally the always fun Pop Culture references 18:00 and summary.
MANGA segment 25:19 includes the little bits of manga news, followed by catching up on what I've been reading in the world of manga lately.
COMIC BOOKS 32:47 starting with October release news. Recent Reads/Events 39:07 including Kelly Thompson's The Cull #1, the finale of Dark Knights of Steel, plus Marvel Unleashed #1 and a ton more, all leading into catching up with the ending of Knight Terrors, which itself leads into the Batman/Catwoman Gotham War. On Marvel's side, the extensive Fall of X books have been read and summarized as well as I think is reasonable.
TV/Movies/Anime segments 1:24:59 start with everything new and noteworthy, including new English anime dubs, shows I've caught up on or started fresh, and some recent movies and one-off's that I've also enjoyed. Really quickly, there's also relevant News/Announcements 1:32:39.
Finally, (with Adam joining the discussion here) after some actually pretty solid discussion of the Harley Quinn show's finale of season 4 (and what we'd like to see in a season 5), we get to Ahsoka! The show, that is. Be warned, we saved recording this until we'd already cracked a few beers, so what you're hearing is raw, mostly unfiltered drunk nerds get excited about the Clone Wars and Rebels series' long-game outcome. Hail Filoni, tbh. It's so good to see....you get it. It's all in there, I hope the discussion isn't too wild.
I'll be back with another episode uhhhh hopefully by the end of the month! Lots going on in life atm, so scheduling my recordings have been kinda difficult. But I shall return, and Adam too! There's at least, what, 2 more Ahsoka episodes to cover? And always, always, more comics, manga, and anime. The Fall 2023 anime season will be announced soon, too! Peace out, girl scouts.

We recorded this yesterday but forgot to post, whoops! Podcast Notes to follow along/for more info: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep103-the-tower-v-comic-tropes-nimrods-name-explained-spider-man-reign-sequel-strange-new-worlds-finale-and-more
For the weekly Tarot Lessons, our Card of the Week 00:02:33 is #16 of the Major Arcana: The Tower. I'm talking history, meaning and symbolism, and connections to comics through the characters Hellcat, Nimrod, the Joker, and more. As this is a longer segment, the timestamps for each section are: starting with History (including the connection to Marvel's Nimrod); Appearance/Description 11:09; Interpretation/Meaning 12:29; Pop Culture 15:27 (including Marvel, DC, Anime, and Fantasy references); ending with a brief summary. My Patsy Walker/Hellcat special: https://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/the-patsy-walker-hellcat-story-june-yancy-street-special-history-from-timely-to-marvel-character-insights-and-more
There's a bit of MANGA 00:25:13 that I've followed this week, then COMIC BOOKS 27:16 starts with minor news, including the dark story explanation for Spider-Man: Reign, getting a sequel that nobody wanted later this year. Recent Comic Reads and Events 00:33:07 covers fun indie titles like Swan Songs (that Wijngaard art!), The Madness, and Vampirella/Dracula: Rage #1, plus the current Big Two events, Knight Terrors at DC and Fall of X at Marvel.
TV/Movies/Anime has minor news at the front 00:44:13 with Adam joining us again to talk the new Destiny 2 Zavala casting! Don't miss Ahsoka on the 23rd, we'll discuss it on the subsequent podcast! Finally, he and I discuss the finale of Strange New Worlds 00:46:43, including a lot of talk on the Gorn species. We end with the 5th episode of Harley Quinn season 4, where both character arcs of the leading ladies ties us back to the message of tarot's the Tower card. Whabam!
Join us again next week for more Harley Quinn, prep for he Ahsoka episode, a TON more comics and manga chat, and tarot's The Star! Stay Hydrated and Sweaty, nerds.

Hello and welcome back to the Yancy St Podcast! We're happy to have you.
I got a little excited about the TAROT Card of the Week this week, which is #15: The Devil 00:02:59. It actually takes up most of the episode, so I'll give each section it's own timestamp: Description/Symbolism @ 00:15:56. Interpretation/Meaning @ 00:25:50. Pop Culture @ 00:28:36. Summary @ 00:37:00. I know it seems like a lot but we've got a ton in here: historical explanation for Baphomet, Marvel, Anime, DC and Justice League character correspondences, Devil designs through history and the historical evolution of how we got there, and more. Here's the link to my Satana podcast special: https://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/satana-hellstrom-the-devils-daughter-satanic-panic-seduction-of-the-innocent-the-comics-code-full-character-history
The weekly COMIC BOOKS Lo-Down on Recent Reads/Events 00:39:39 includes DC's Knight Terrors and Marvel's Fall of X, plus The Sacrificers #1, Amazing Spider-Man Annual, and more.
Adam joins the chat for the TV/Movies/Anime segment 00:49:41, where we talk animation and unionization--while we see most of Hollywood put on pause for the SAG-AFTRA strikes, when will voice actors and animators get their own justice?
We finish with the shows, currently Harley Quinn S04E04 56;28 (The First Person to Come Back From a Business Conference Without Chlamydia), and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S02E09 (Subspace Rhapsody). And boy, that musical episode was certainly....certainly something.

Hello and Happy August! We'll cover some new-month topics this week as well as our regular fun programming.
Join us in the Yancy Street Discord! https://discord.gg/gU59jDUt Follow along with the podcast notes: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep101-temperance-comic-events-and-look-ahead-secret-invasion-finale-loki-s2-trailer-harley-quinn-s4-and-more EDIT: Found the comics I was looking for! Link to Elektra Daredevil action figure review: https://youtu.be/r-2iTXXNXI0
Tarot Lessons Card of the Week 00:07:12 is #14 of the Major Arcana, Temperance! A card of balance, blending, and queer identity. Plus Marvel and Anime tarot references!
The Manga segment 00:19:18 briefly covers My Dress Up Darling volume 9, as well as Superman VS Meshi @2.
The segment for COMIC BOOKS 00:21:35 starts with covering recent releases, including Ultimate Invasion, Hellcat and She-Hulk finales, Marvel's the Fall and DC's Knight Terrors. For coming this week, we have an even better list of fun releases that I'll be covering on the next episode! Finally, I go over some more of what to expect and look forward to for comic books in this month of August.
TV, Movies, and Anime begins at 00:43:42, talking briefly some new things for the Summer Anime Season such as Mashle, Pokemon, and Saint Cecilia. Also gone over are The Little Mermaid, and on the wildly opposite end of the spectrum, A Knock at the Cabin. Then, Adam leads the short talk on the upcoming Castlevania spinoff show!
We end as usual with Current Shows 00:46:45, starting with the latest Strange New Worlds (S02E08), and a somber ide of the franchise. 51:36 sees us go into the Secret Invasion finale, and then remember that the Loki Season 2 trailer came out, and so we get a lot into that one, too! It ends with Harley Quinn S04E01-3 1:05:03, a delightful kickoff to what is hopefully not the final arc of the show.
Come back next week for more comics, more shows, more tarot, and whatever else we come up with by then! Joins the discord, follow us online, and more in the links below.

Our Tarot studies this week coves the exciting Card of the Week, #13: Death! 00:04:44 Talking the Black Plague, modern takes, Truck-kun, and more!
The MANGA Segment 19.31is mostly a brief check-in about those DC Comics Manga being released in English, which are all enjoyable so far!
There's a lot for COMIC BOOKS 21.23, starting with news, which covers "Big Two" news for October-- Halloween specials, one-shots, series kick-offs, and more! Then we get into Recent Reads/Events 32.26, talking my surprising love for Tales f the Titans #1, the new Harley Quinn anthology, and more. Dc's Knight Terrors event is covered starting at 40.31, and I am completely caught up!
Going into TV/MOVIES/Anime 48.23, we stat with what's New and Noteworthy, including the Summer 2023 anime season, Minx, and a lot of love for They Cloned Tyrone.
The News/Announcements/Rumors 54.20 is entirely what comes from SDCC 2023, including new action figure releases from Mezco and Hasbro. That also leads us into the trailer for THE MARVELS 1:03: 54, where I break the thing down, add in my own questions and theories, and go over the comic book arc that introduces Park Seo-joon, playing alien character Yan D' Aladna (NOT Carol's husband in any way).

Join The Yancy Street Discord! https://discord.gg/XTX2PZJ7 We've entered the hottest part of the year, just in time for Convention season! But the heat isn't the only major complication this year. More in the news segment!
Podcast notes for mentioned links/to follow along with this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep99tarot-history-12-mcu-synergy-fatigue-dcs-knight-terrors-x-men-before-the-fall-mawsuperman-trekusawhouk-more
Continuing our Tarot Lessons, the Card of the Week 00:03:19 is Major Arcana #12: the Hanged Man. I found what I thought was some neat history, trailing down into the usual pop culture references and concluding with the modern take on the card.
There's a bit of news for Comic Books 00:15:46, which contains spoilers for the recent Fallen Friend issue and the future of the character in question. The base of our MCU Fatigue discussions found in this episode starts here.
The fairly extensive Recent Reads/Events 00:23:52 covers almost a month of comics catching up, including talk about both the current Marvel and DC comic events. For Marvel, I put together a somewhat brief summary of the Sins of Sinister event and how it leads into our current Before the Fall "precursor" event. Then for DC, I have a very basic rundown of the Knight Terrors event backstory, and a few of the stories that have happened so far. More for both next episode! Other comics discussed in slightly more-depth include Doctor Strange #5, Jon Kent's new series, the end of Hairball, the complicated feelings on Captain Marvel through Dark Tempest #1 (and her movie), and of course, more on Fallen Friend.
Shows/Movies/Anime 00:51:50 begins with what we've been currently watching, starting with a longer discussion of Hijack (AppleTV+) and ending with one about My Adventures with Superman (MAX)! Both are very positive, just so ya know.
Then News for this section 001:04:04, with some Anime Expo announcements, some Greta Gerwig mentions, and a good amount of discourse on the VARIOUS big strikes happening right now, and how that'll effect both con season and the immediate future of fandom.
Adam mostly covers the real talk on the latest Secret Invasion episodes 01:13:34, covering the BIGGEST reveals, who's lived and died so far, general MCU observations, and a fair amount of theories.
Last is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 01:21:34, covering episodes 3-5 of season 2. All of them have been delightful, IMO, true to the spirit of Trek. On that note, we also ended up talking Doctor Who, and my "theory" on how the two shows are basically the same thing.
The end! I'll be back as soon as I can manage, so stay hydrated, but metaphorically sweaty.

The catching up starts with an unfortunate loss, the obituary of THE John Romita Sr. (0:05:03). A legend across publishers, eras, characters, and influences, his career was one that will always remain vastly important to the history of comic book publishing.
Podcast Notes for links and reading along: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep98-jrjr-justice-card-pride-month-manga-highlights-comic-book-news-strange-new-worlds-s2-secret-invasion-the-flash
In our episodic Tarot Studies (00:11:15), we discuss the history, symbolism, interpretation, and pop culture references of the 11th card of the Major Arcana, Justice! Coinciding comic characters: Magik and Valkyrie.
Instead of a Manga of the week this go-round (00:23:49), I decided this June for Pride Month, I'd do a Pride Month Highlight on Great Queer Manga: highlighting the diversity of characters, topics, and settings of LGBTQ+-based manga! I've compiled a list of 7 beloved queer manga (plus a few favorites of our own!) to briefly describe and, I hope, catch your interest.
Moving forward into my bit on Comic Books (00:34:57), I have a LOT of comics from May/June to cover, which I've finally caught up on! This includes the finale to Thompson's Captain Marvel series, the premier of Tom King's coming Wonder Woman, Hickman's return to Marvel with ultimate Invasion, and much, much more!
As for what's new Next week (6/28) (00:52:43 ), we have some great variant covers to mention and celebrate.
Comic Book News (00:55:51) includes Kelly Thompson's Birds of Prey, Rafael Grampa's Gargoyle of Gotham, Hickman's utter glory, and Alyssa Wong's October Captain Marvel! Lots to talk about, and even more to come.
Which brings us right into the parts for TV and Movies (01:12:08), starting with some brief notes on what I've been watching lately: HMU about that FROM finale, PLEASE.
Announcements/Rumors; Trailers; and Anime News (01:14:52) are gone through pretty quickly, so see the podnotes for the links to details and elaboration!
Finally, CURRENT TV: (01:32:27) Starting with Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episodes 1 AND 2, then going into Secret Invasion's episode 1 premier! So much fun, for so many reasons. And are you, as well, looking forward to the SNW/Lower Decks crossover? I'm ready.
And that's it this week. I'll be back as soon as I am able, odd are with Adam included! We'll talk more Trek, more Marvel, more Manga and Anime, and as always, more Comics. Keep is sweaty, nerds.

Happy June! I hope your month is off to a good start. It's the Spider-Verse episode!
Podcast notes to follow along if you'd like: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep97-across-the-spider-verse-spoiler-chat-wheel-of-fortune-in-marvelanime-patsy-walkers-hellcat-more-comics-news-etc
Before we kick off the week's opening Tarot lesson 00:02:59, shoutout to the Citadel Oracle deck for being bonkers amazing in every way. Creator Fez Ikwright's site (10/10): https://rosdottir.com/
Our Card of the Week of the major arcana this week is #10: Wheel of Fortune! Using tarot-heritage.com's wonderful history and summary, the wheel of fortune is duly explored through historical context, imagery, and meanings. Pus the usual Anime Tarot archetype and Marvel Tarot TRIO (count them--3!) comic characters assigned to the card!
Manga of the week 00:21:26 is The Angel Next-door Spoils Me Rotten, a manga I've been reading based off an original light novel series. The story's anime premiered on Crucnyroll in the past year, so check that out if you do subs!
Manga News 00:24:41 includes potential ends for Chainsaw Man and the start of a....Doc Oc in a schoolgirl's body manga? Yerp.
As for Comic Books 00:31:11, yes, I am behind again. BUT, I have a lot to say about Cantwell's Hellcat series, which I'm still loving, and the developments in Patsy Walker's life (and death?). I also cover Disney's Maleficent #1 (very, very good) and issue 5 of 6 of the Ambassadors!
Then, a brief rundown of what's New Next Week (well, this week, June 7th) 00:39:11, including another issue of Ambassadors and if my calendar is correct, Maleficent #2!
Three points of Comic Book News 00:43:27 cover Hickman/Schiti's G.O.D.S. at Marvel, Thompson's new Birds of Prey at DC, and the apparent impending Bat/Ca Gotham War, of which neither of us are particular fans. Fingers crossed it ends how we hope!
Finally into TV/MOVIES 00:51:17, going over for starters the new things we've been watching and enjoying this week, including Demon Slayer, Mashle, and Oshi No Ko (we also watched the first episode of American Born Chinese after recording--10/10 fantastic, if you were still wondering). And very quickly, some anime announcements 00:53:25, with at least one new English dub on the way this week!
And Then: SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE @ 00:55:51 and through to the end! We talk new characters, theories wild and sane, general reactions, and everything else we could think of! Definitely spoilers, definitely loved it. Adam shares his notes and I wing it whoops
Best I know, I'll be back Sunday for the new episode. Any ideas what to do for #100? I hit 100 episodes a long time again, this one is jsut numbered so.
American Born Chinese! Comics Comics Comics! Tarot's Justice Card!
Next time.
Have a good week.

Tuesday May 23, 2023
Hello and good afternoon, everyone! Anna and (sometimes) Adam, back at it again with a new podcast episode! Anna's Insta is linked below, Adam's is https://www.instagram.com/adeezzy40
Podcast notes to follow along should you wish to do so: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep96-the-hermit-iron-man-and-emma-frost-get-married-ms-marvel-in-wells-er-man-ruridragon-comic-news-and-more
This week's Tarot Studies 0:04:01 covers our Card of the Week for the Major Arcana, #9: The Hermit! I talk a little history, description and symbolism, meaning, and pop culture references! Additionally, due to the Anime Tarot's Hikikomori card for the Hermit, I go through the differing definitions of Hikikomori, NEET, Otaku, and Weeaboo, as described by the Japanese Ministry of Health.
As part of our regular Manga segment, this week's Manga of the week 0:20:01 is the elusive Ruri Dragon! Written and illustrated by Masaoki Shindo, for whom the series has had to take a break due to the creator's health. Available on the Shonen Jump app, hopefully the hype keeps up long enough for Shindo to make a glorious return for Ruri and co!
The weekly COMIC BOOKS chat 0:25:04 starts with fairly extensive Comic Book News--and Adam's main involvement of the episode this week. News we cover includes August Marvel and DC announcements, the somewhat curious line of Fall of X books, Tony and Emma's coming marriage (yep, really), and of course, those ASM #26.....choices. That was....truly a choice. We all know why, but that doesn't make it any better. Lame. Anyway. I wrap up comic news with some Frank Frazetta talk regarding the upcoming Dynamite Fire and Ice series.
There's a week or two of Recent Comic Reads 0:58:23, including the penultimate Captain Marvel, Spirit World, Avengers, and at least a TRIO of really fun indie titles. This is followed by what is coming for New Comics Next Week (5/24) 01:08:09: some series starts and some very coo continuations, IMO!
The TV/MOVIES segment 01:13:46 includes a little bit of what I've been watching this week, like Netflix's Yakitori anime, before getting into some brief Announcements 01:15:05. Lastly, for Anime News 01:18:56, I have a few points of interest that include English dub announcements as well as releases for later seasons this year!
Come back next week for more tarot lessons, more comic books, manga and anime, pop culture, and more, for the last week of May! Keep it sweaty; it's a good time to be a nerd.
Monday May 15, 2023
Monday May 15, 2023
I'll be the first to admit we might have been cracking some beers doing this recording, so I hope you enjoy it! This is a much less regimented episode than I usually do, so let me know what you think of the format compared to "usual" weeks.
Admittedly limited podcast notes for this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep95-the-chariot-of-tarot-the-manga-villainess-james-gunns-dcu-superman-legacy-casting-chat-gotgv3-and-more
Tarot card of the week is the Chariot! I don't have anything too interesting for history unfortunately, just the usual symbolism, meanings, and pop culture.
The Manga of the Week is The Fed Up Office Lady Wants to Serve the Villainess! Not available in print in English, so that's up to you to figure out. But man, do I love this one! Easy to catch up on as it's only about 8 chapters in!
Which ends what I actually planned for the episode--the remainder is free reign discussion between myself and Adam about recent Geek culture/pop culture events. We start with the recent casting rumors and short lists for James Gunn's much looked-forward-to Superman: Legacy movie. We go through our wants and expectations, along with the names who might be playing various important characters.
Then it's continuing the Gunn discussion with Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Granted, we haven't seen it in theaters, but I've seen enough and heard enough to know I won't be seeing it there period. We are not a household that puts up with visceral animal pain. But there's more than that to talk about, and so with what we know, we do.
Lastly, it had to happen: more Amazing Spider-Man comics discussion, this time in connection to footage from the upcoming Spider-Verse movie! But don't just stop here, the whole episode is full of little bits and pieces of geek culture being talked about, including the DnD movie, DC's Knight Terrors event, and more! I hope you enjoy our tipsy chat, and there should be a slightly more regular episode back again next week--unless y'all really prefer this! Let me know.
Sunday Apr 30, 2023
Sunday Apr 30, 2023
Good morrow! Back at it again with my cohost/husband, Adam! He's here this week to talk Demon Slayer (manga), Amazing Spider-Man (ASM), The Flash (DCU) trailer, and more!
Link to the podcast notes on my ad-free website, if you want to read them to follow along: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep94-ivthe-chariot-zeb-wells-spider-manpaul-fcbd-preview-may-comic-look-ahead-demon-slayer-is-manga-of-the-week
This week's Tarot Lessons 00:04:06 covers card #6 of the Major Arcana, the Chariot! We're talking some light(er than last week) history, symbolism, meaning, and pop culture references!
Our Manga of the Week 00:18:48 is none other than Demon Slayer! One of the most popular series' of this era, Adam has collected and read the entire manga, so he's pleased to share it with you with his thoughts! Followed by brief points of Manga News 00:26:09. For a full list of manga releases coming in this month of May, check out the Otaku Calendar site for May: https://otakucalendar.com/Calendar/2023/5
As it's the first pod of the new month, technically, I have quite some extensive comic book previews. The comic book segments start 00:28:17 with covering some Recent Reads, including the Powergirl Action Comics B-Story, end of the arc for Grim, Hairball, Harley Quinn, the Ambassadors, the final issue of Lovesick, and more Clea in Doctor Strange. PLEASE be sure to check out her podcast special I did for her last year if you want to know anything additional about her character--I'm the Resident Clea Pro!
Comic Book News 00:42:11 has two small upcoming series announcements and a note on the ending of the Captain Marvel series, before I let Adam go off about the current Zeb Wells-run Amazing Spider-Man series, AKA Amazing-Cuck-Man, AKA Amazing Paul, AKA Wells Cuck Fantasy, AKA---we could go on. Nothing makes sense.
But then there's still MAY comic series/one-shot kick-offs 00:55:19; JULY BIG-2 Highlights (from solicits); a preview for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2023 (Sat. May 6th!) 01:02:48; and finally, New Comics Next Week (5/3/2023) 1:07:39.
Which leaves us with the TV/MOVIES 01:09:47 segment. After some brief notes on the current spring 2023 anime and live-action shows, we're talking News and Announcements 1:11:44, which covers Grant Morrison's legendary Titans cameo, plus excitement about season 2 of Strange New Worlds! I'm currently making Adam rewatch the first with me.
The only Trailer 01:16:36 to speak of this week was that additional Flash trailer, for which Adam and I have WIDLY different takes! Who do you agree with more?!?
Finally, Anime News 1:22:34 has just a few points of things to look forward to later this year and beyond.
That's it for this week, and thank you all for tuning in! Please feel free to join our discord (below) to talk about whatever you want--geek-related or otherwise! And we'll see you next week :)

As promised, we begin this week with a tribute 05:22 to Lance Reddick: actor, artist, musician, and geek. He is a vast talent that will truly be missed.
The tarot studies major arcana card of the week 12:12 is card #6: The lovers (which is gunny, cause co-host). I talk a LOT about the history of this one, which i hope you find just as interesting as I did! The deck of the month is Tarot Mucha from Lo Scarabeo.
Our Manga of the Week is Kaiju No.8, in a discussion primarily led by Adam! Followed by Manga News 47:54.
The Comics segment begins 52:24 with what is new this coming week (the last of April), and then has a LOT of catching up on recent comic book releases, including this final arc of Captain Marvel, the first issues of Hellcat, eternally more love for Purgatori, and so much more!
TV and Movies segment 1:37:05 starts with some new and noteworthy titles including the so-far Spring Anime releases, Beef with Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, and a few others.
Star Wars Celebration wrap-up 1:42:45 includes the teasers and trailers, the new "trilogy" announcement, and what we hope for the future!
Other News 02:05:19 including the potential of an Adam Driver-led F4, is followed by discussion of the recent trailers that premiered--mostly the Spider-Verse and the Marvels ones. Hype! Follow Kris Anka on Instagram @krisanka
Some light anime news 02:26:16 leads us finally into the finale episodes of the Mandalorian season 3 02:27:39, covering Guns for Hire, The Spies, and The Return! Mall Ninja Gideon, Din Grogu, Queer Longing, Clones, Westerns Tropes and more--there's just a lot of love in this discussion. And hopefully more next season!
I'll be back--guest host or not regardless--hopefully in another week talking more manga of the week, tarot studies, new shows and comics, and much more! It's a great time to be a nerd.

The past few weeks have been a lot, I won't lie. Nothing need to know, but life does get in the way at times and this was certainly one of those times. As always, and maybe in the spirit of the anime Shoujo Heroine, we will continue moving forward with time and continue to strive to do our best, whatever that may entail on a day-to-day basis.
Podcast notes to follow along with this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep92-mando-catch-up-ch2021-secret-invasion-blue-beetle-trailers-legacy-of-big-two-female-comic-creatives-more
One of the hard points recently was the news of the passing of celebrated geek, musician, actor and voice actor, Lance Reddick. The dust hasn't quite settled enough for the tribute I feel he is required, so I don't have it here on this episode. But he is due the respect of proper obituary on this podcast, so when we are ready, it will happen. In the meantime, if you have any stories of Lance, please feel free to share them wherever you can so I can add that to his tribute.
Starting with Tarot 06:41, I remembered this week to give the note on Divinatory Tarot and the Like that I meant to go over last week, and the full article it came from can be found here: http://hearingshofar.blogspot.com/2010/03/aries-shofar-at-pesach.html Card of the Week for our tarot lessons continuation is #5: the Hierophant. I have the description, symbolism, meanings and interpretation, plus a bit of history and some fun pop culture references!
Manga of the week 0:19:23 is, ironically, it turns out, Tokyo Demon Bride Story by TADAICHI NAKAMA! Ironic, because I also learned today that this is the last day of it's publication: the manga ends as of today, April 3rd. While it seems to have a fair amount of haters, I found it quite charming and entertaining. Tokyo Demon Bride story can be found on the Shonen Jump app.
Manga News for the week 22:26 includes the MyAnimeList Ultimate List of Manga Recommendations (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2023-03-31/myanimelist-releases-ultimate-list-of-manga-recommendations/.196585 ) as well as a number of other starts and finales.
Comic Book News 25:50 is a touch heavy this week, starting with the frankly ludicrous twitter debate of Comics vs Manga, and going into the sad truth of our female creators in comics, and how their legacies are sabotaged by the publishers who hired them. The discussion came from the following tweet: https://twitter.com/ComicBookHerald/status/1636013058890903553?s=20 . We also gave some time and thought to the legacy of Carol Danvers, and how the cancellation of her series at issue 50 is NOT a good decision for anyone involved, even so much as to relate to the previous point about female Big Two creators. Plus I have some King/Sampere Wonder Woman thoughts, which I don't think anyone will have an answer for until her landmark 800th issue.
I talk a bit about the kick-off's from 3/22 0:37:49 plus some of what was new this past week, 3/29. As always, this is only a tiny fraction of all comic releases each week, so be sure to contact your local comic purveyor for the full details on what you may be interested in! Comics are, as always, for everyone.
We get into the TV/MOVIES segement 0:41:31 ith what's New and Noteworthy lately, including Yellowjackets season 2, Wellmania, Unstable (wow, bit of trend here, eh?), School Spirits, and more. We're back to having a PROPER News/Announcements segment this week, starting with the RUMORS: 48:13, then MCU: 51:59 including the leaving of Victoria Alonso and Ike Perlmutter, Secret Invasion info and theories, the necessary mentioning of changes that may come to Loki season 2's cast, Liv Tyler's Betty Ross, and the casting of Wonder Man's brother, Grim Reaper. Then DCU: 1:03:16 talking Batman 2's villain, a certain unfortunate project, and of course, the Blue Beetle trailer! Big ups and downs in the pop culture news this week, for sure.
Anime News 1:06:58 has me talking Spring 2023 Lineup English Dubs (no dates! why no dates, Crunchyroll?) as well as new Anime and show announcements, including the Netflix Scott Pilgrim project, Konosuba, Re:Zero, Spy x Family, Girlfriend Girlfriend, and more!
Finally, I get caught up with where we're at with the Mandalorian season 3, talking chapters 20 and 21: the Foundling and the Pirate, respectively. From space pterodactyls to HOLY SHIT I forgot to finish talking about episode 21...ummmmm oops. I'll see if I remembe to talk about the Armorer + Bo Katan next week! heh. oops.
And that's it! happy to have you here. Please rate/like my episodes so they get seen by more listeners, and thank you as always for your support. Next week we'll talk card #6, the Lovers, plus a new Manga of the week, more shows and movies and Mando, more anime, and tons of fun, I hope.

You'll hear me mention the podcast notes for this episode a few times, which has more information and links to several interesting outside sources. This can all be found ad-free on my website: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/e91-who-is-the-convert-mando-ch19-comic-manga-and-anime-news-the-emperor-card-kaiju-girl-caramelise-and-more
In this last episode of Winter, the week's Tarot Lessons 0:04:00 cover the Card of the Week-- #4: The Emperor of the traditional Major Arcana.
For Manga 00:16:57, the new Manga of the week is Kaiju Girl Caramelise by Spica Aoki! This sweet, still early-on series is heartwarming, wholesome, and only ever getting better.
Manga News 0:23:53 features a numbers of announcements on new English releases coming through the year.
Comic Books 0:31:06 features what was New This Week, as well as Comic Book News and June Release Announcements 0:37:09, including the full DC Pride 2023 lineup, new Tom King series', and a fair amount of indie love. I also had o stop and talk about Purgatori some more 0:50:15, the new focus of the Halloween 2023 podcast special, who I hope I can make you all love as much as I immediately did.
TV and Movies 0:53:54 begins with what is New and Noteworthy over the past week, incuding History of the World part 2, Class of '07 (Amazing!), Ted Lasso s3, making fun of Gotham Knights, and more. Only one announcement this week, if you can call it that 0:58:03; followed by another discussion of American Born Chinese (coming to Disney+ March 23rd!), including famed artist James Jean's thoughtful statement on the show and the artistic poster he created for it.
The Anime segment 1:04:22 is almost entirely anime news, which is a lot of premier dates for the most part. I'm generally a dub watcher, so I love to see new English dubs being made, among all the rest of the news.
OF course, we end it all with Mando Ep. 3 1:08:34 titled Chapter 19- the Convert! and just who IS this convert? Because there's more than one option, and I think it's clear based on my take here what convert I'm more excited for, and why! This IS the way, nerds. I love it. No ragerts.
I'll be back next week with episode 92, covering the Hierophant tarot card and history, a new Manga of the week, all kinds of geeky news, a ton of comics talk, and more Mandalorian coverage! I can't wait.

I started today with a brief note on philosophy/psychology 0:03:07, due to an in-depth friend conversation I had about this Agnes Callard article https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/03/13/agnes-callard-profile-marriage-philosophy (CW for divorce, abortion, motherhood regret, relationships, etc) I'm curious what thoughts listeners might have to add.
Podcast notes for referenced links, more information, and those otherwise wanting to follow along: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep90-secrets-of-mandalore-iiithe-empress-millars-empress-2016-the-good-asian-purgatori-3-animemanga-news-more
This week's Tarot Studies 0:05:36 includes our new card of the week, #3 of the Major Arcana, The Empress! While I don't have so much history on this card per-se, I have some interesting insights that, oddly enough, tie into some more psychology, if just a bit. Plus some interesting and feminine connection to last week's High Priestess card! Next week is #4, the Emperor!
The Manga segment 0:19:59 begins with our new Manga of the Week: Daily Report About my Witch Senpai, by Maka Mochida! We take these two sweet little slice-of-life volumes as a cooling off period after going hard last two week with Boys Over Flowers and the Wallflower. Followed by a good but of Manga News 0:22:52, which is a bit I'm still working on perfecting! Should I just report the ones I'm familiar with, or is continuing to look for more new and interesting things a good way to expand all our manga/anime knowledge?? ( I feel like I just answered my own question)
For Comic Books 0:30:03, we begin with what was NEW this week, arriving in shops March 8th! There's plentiful kick-off's to new series', both indie and "big-two." There are two bits of Comic Book News 0:37:30, one very positive, and one less so. Also, a short discussion of What Happened to Donny Cates? Please note I jest in good humor, please don't send me internet hate over a straight white man, lol. Then the past week's Recent Reads and Events 0:42:12 includes more Lazarus Planet after-shocks, including that awful (awfully cheese-ball) Batman v Robin ending, two Stephanie Phillips kick-offs, and a Stephanie Phillips finale (her Harley Quinn run), plus more!
For whatever reason, I've been wanting to go back and finish Mark Millar and Stuart Immonen's Empress (2016; 7-issues), so I decided to make it a feature on this episode 0:54:35. Only when I was doing this write-up did I realize that it was perfect timing, alongside this week's tarot study of the Empress card. Ha! anyway. I give a little summary, but my full summary is on the linked podcast notes.
Which brings us to the TV/Movies segment 01:00:34, starting as usual with what was New (to me, at least) and Noteworthy over the past week or so, plus some exciting announcements that includes the screen adaptation of The Good Asian, the 2022 Eisner Award Winner for best Limited Series! And for damn good reason. There's a bit of Anime news 1:06:05, then finally...
Mandalorian season 3 episode 2, Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore. Folks, it's spoiler city here, and probably isn't a good segment for your kids to overhear, cause this bitch got EXCITED. If you thought I got too sweaty last week, it's in a whole new universe on this one, babyyyyyy! But, I mean, if you watched it, you get it, right? Right?!
Come back next week for the 81st episode! The Emperor in Tarot, more MANDO, a new Manga of the Week, exciting new comic reads, and always so much more! Keep it sweaty, folks, It's better that way.

Wednesday Mar 08, 2023
So about this late upload.....oops? Episode 90 still coming tomorrow, the 9th!
Podcast notes for various things referenced: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep89-mando-s3-apostate-the-wallflower-quantumania-steven-yeun-sentry-heckboy-more-news-lazarus-planet-wrap-up
Starting off the week with Tarot Studies 0:04:14, and this week's Card of the Week, #2: the High Priestess. Interestingly, the history of the High Priestess is quite different than that of the Magician last week, in that there are a number of real world conspiracies tied into the card's origin. Plus the three character connection from the Marvel Tarot (2007--and in need of an update, tbh), as well as the High Priestess' character archetype from the Anime Tarot! As this is the first episode of March, I also have a new Tarot Deck of the Month 0:24:17, which for March is the Pagan Cats Tarot, aka Tarot of Pagan Cats! Delightful, artistic, and so creative!
The Manga segment 0:26:50 has our very in-depth Manga of the Week: The Wallflower (aka Perfect Girl Evolution)! Also having run as a delightful and popular 25-episode anime, the Wallflower was one of my first manga I read as a teen, and like last week's Boys Over Flowers, will always hold a special place in my heart. Check out the connecting Podcast Notes to see how much I DIDN'T include in the podcast, but is still all there in my write-up! Endless information; I wasn't lying when I said I love this one! That leads into a decent list of New and Continuing Manga for this new month of March 0:40:50, which again, has a much more in-depth version on the written notes linked above.
Once again, the Comic Books segment 0:44:09 starts with what's new and interesting in March, from a variety of publishers, as well as releases I'm just generally looking forward to. After that is the New Comics This Week list--which I feel like I have to casually remind you is only a small portion of all weekly comic releases! Check out your local comic shop or online retailer for a full list of what releases for comics each week.
The Recent Comic Reads & Events 0:50:49 segment includes the wrap-up of DC Comics' Lazarus Planet event, which officially ended with Lazarus Planet Omega, but will have further impact down the road, and I'll be keeping up with those aftershocks, as well! Other reads I talk about include, honestly, a handful of things I was underwhelmed by, but I promise that will change with the next podcast episode's comics section, as there is always more to look forward to!
The final segment is TV/MOVIES 01:00:45! Starting off with some New and Noteworthy releases and watches, including Outer Banks and Make My Day. We have an amount of very interesting "announcements lite," 01:01:52 such as Steven Yeun's Thunderbolts villain role, the new Pretty-Boy-Hellboy, Something is Killing the Children's going to Netflix, and more, plus some minor rumors. There were two somewhat noteworthy trailers 01:07:04 put out last week, including Peter Pan and Wendy, and the Haunted Mansion, both of which get a mention. Anime News and Updates 01:08:53 is mostly my current watch-list and things that I'm enjoying this season.
The main event is the shows! Beginning with a little bit on the surprising (to me) Mayfair Withes Finale 01:09:30 before getting into the excitement of Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 01:11:35, titled Chapter 17: the Apostate. We get into easter eggs, references, the trilogy of trilogies (I'm talking about prequels, originals, and sequels), plus Book of Boba, and the Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows, because it's all involved here! We're getting peak Star Wars, and yes I know how that sounds! Reign it in, Anna. I just really love Star Wars. And this is getting sweatyyyyy.
Aaaand then I Finally watched Quantumania 01:22:26, and I can't say I disagree with many of the naysayers. It was....not great. MCU Fatigue central, anyone? And BOY, Bill Murray does not sit well with me anymore, jeez. The whole thing was just a little.....it was a lot. Yeah. But not all bad! I had things I liked, to be fair, so that's all discussed.
Come back later this week for episode 90! Including the 18th Chapter of the Mandalorian, a new Manga of the week and tarot card lesson, comics news, and more! PLUS: a special look at Mark Millar and Stuart Immonen's EMPRESS (2016)! All that and more! Keep it sweaty, folks.

In a complete 180 from last year's "Toxic Comics Romance" special, we now feature the undisputed BEST couple in comics, Barda and Scott Free: Big Barda and Mister Miracle.
Podnotes to follow along: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/romance-yancy-st-spec-big-barda-and-mister-miracle-dc-comics-bardas-history-jack-kirbys-fourth-world-darkseid-is-more

Barda Reading Summary: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/big-bardabarda-free-appearances-reading-list
I have an intense love for Big Barda/Barda Free. She was the first comic character I ever began an appearance profile on, and one of the first I ever did extensive contextual research on. Therefore, for the first half of this podcast, we'll be focusing almost entirely on Barda herself, with explanations, stories from the comics, and other context given throughout the whole episode!
ON BARDA: 0:03:06, starting with Barda Keys Comic Issues (not a ton!).
Alternate Versions 0:11:24
Available Statues and Action Figures 0:20:55
Then we get more in-depth into the stories and history, starting with Barda's Creation (By Jack Kirby) 0:22:42
Her Abilities 0:25:27; Personality 0:29:56; Outfits and Appearance Through the years 00:36:47; Teams 0:44:25; and Relationships 0:49:38.
On Cecil Castellucci's Female Furies, which I recommend to everyone: 1:06:01
Then at last, Couple History! 01:13:54 Starting with Jack Kirby's Fourth World; Scott and Barda's Origins; and life Post-Marriage.
Relationship Points of Interest 01:16:47, including the following factors, explained: their marriage breaks common stereotypes; their open attraction to one another; Their Love; a Healthy Duality! and on being separate, together.
That brings us into Modern History, with Tom King and Mitch Gerads' Mister Miracle 01:24:40 (2017-2019); and the failed Tom King/Ava Duvernay New Gods film project 1:28:56 (I cry).
Finally, Where does that leave Barda and her Boo in 2023? 01:29:57 And let me know your take!
And last, an explanation on Darkseid Is. 01:33:53.

Follow along with the notes for this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep88-leiji-matsumoto-tribute-history-of-the-magician-the-iconic-boys-over-flowers-dc-flash-trailer-mcu-fatigue-jsa-more
We start off this week with an Obituary (00:07:35) for late, great, and legendary manga creator Leiji Matsumoto. Fans and professionals alike from all kinds of art and storytelling communities had a lot to say about his man's important legacy. This had to be followed up by something lighter (0:18:44), so we have a fun live-size Gundam update!
This week's Tarot Studies (00:21:73) covers the next card of the Major Arcana: #1, the Magician! This card has some interesting and surprising history, much of which is quite different than how we view it today. For the history page I discuss in this segment, go here: https://tarot-heritage.com/from-trionfi-to-majorarcana/from-il-bagatto-to-the-magician/ and be sure t come back next week for the lesson on #2, the High Priestess!
Our Manga segment (00:36:47) contains the new Manga of the Week, for which I proudly present Boys Over Flowers, by Yoko Kamio! A highly formative story for myself personally, I was particularly excited to share Hana Yori Dango with the podcast listeners. Best selling shojo manga of all time, gang gang
(does anyone get that reference?)
The segment for Comic Books (00:50:38) starts with some brief May solicitation highlights for the "Big-Two," including what comes new that month, and some light (and frankly necessary) Marvel bashing. Don't miss the Month of March Comic Book Look-Ahead next week, where I'll be talking about what is new and/or exciting from ALL publishers this coming month! New Comic Books This Week (Feb. 21st-22nd, 00:54:08) are covered quickly, with a plethora of indie kick-offs! Recent Reads/Events (01:03:25) includes a fairly in-depth catch-up for the first two issues of Justice Society of America, which I find myself far more into than I expected!
Finally, for the TV/Movies segment (01:13:41), I go over what's new and noteworthy, including some notes on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and the adjoining MCU Fatigue. It's mostly Deadpool 3 in News/Announcements (01:22:51), and the only trailer discussed (01:24:31) is the upcoming Flash movie from DC--which I'm sure everyone has thoughts about, so let me hear yours! Last is Anime News (01:29:58) and my own personal current list, again. What are you watching this season, and what are your personal hidden gem shows?
That's all folks! Come back next week for more Tarot lessons, a new Manga of the Week, March comic book previews, and depending on the day I record, the first episode of Mandalorian season 3 reviewed! Sweat it out, in the meantime, and keep it cool.

I'm particularly excited about this episode, because I'm taking my first real steps into the new segments I have planned, so please give any feedback you have!
Link to this episode's podcast notes to follow along (including referenced links): http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep87-tarots-0-fool-witch-watch-dark-web-goblin-queen-supreme-spider-man-noir-cunk-on-earth-purgatori-love-more
Tarot Lessons this week 0:08:52 starts our deep dive into the 22 cards of the traditional Major Arcana, starting with this episode's #0, the Fool. I go through descriptions from official reference sources as well as meanings gathered in my own study notes, as well as other depiction and variation of the Fool, a tiny bit of history of the card, and of course, the Natasha Yglesias Anime Tarot archetypes, still an excellent and fun teaching tool! And to add some spice, I also go into some light pop culture references to the Fool card that can be found, too!
Our Manga segment 0:29:42 focuses mostly on our new Manga of the Week: Witch Watch, by Kenta Shinohara! J'adore! And I hope you enjoy it, too. I have a little Manga News 0:38:57 that I'm still working on finding my footing for the weekly episodes, so bear with me as I settle on a design I like, and let me know what you want more of.
The Comic Books segment 0:44:26 features what's new in shops this week, with a few golden keys to be sure to grab. Previous weeks' Recent Reads and Event catch-up 0:53:47 features summary of Dark Web: Finale, Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #1; Lazarus Planet: Legends Reborn, DC's Harley Quinn's Romances, DC Power: A Celebration, Purgatori Must Die! #2, and All Against All #1 & 2, which might be my favorite from the bunch.
In TV/Movies 01:11:38, we talk New and Noteworthy (including the illustrious Cunk on Earth and the surprising Shrinking); in Announcements 01:15:46 there's the now-usual DCU nonsense, and the brand new announcement of Amazon's live-action Spider-Man Noir show project! For Anime 01:21:26, there's a bit of news on Demon Slayer season 3 before my own show updates, as I continue to search for a new hidden gem to take me by storm. As for Current Shows 01:25:54, I only have a few things to say on the Bad Batch season 2 so far, but that *REDACTED* was WILD and I want MORE Star Wars like THAT!
That's all folks! Have a happy Valentine's/Lupercalia, however you choose to do so, and be sure to check back next week for a new episode covering Tarot's car #1, The Magician, a new Manga of the Week, more comic books, more news and theories, and a ton of fun for you and me both! Get sweaty unabashedly this week, friends.

The episode proper begins with News, including the obituary for Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams from the 1960's TV show. She led a unique life, and I hope her children and grandchildren find comfort in the successful legacy her portrayal of Wednesday left behind.
Next in News is some chat about Disney's Dreamlight Valley game, specifically the latest updates that were announced 0:15:37. I've been ridiculously hooked on this game, and am excited to see what content they put out this year!
Also announced this week was the "Final Season" of Attack on Titan 0:21:24, which might feel like deja vu, and for good reason! all explained here.
Of course, I am going over the newly announced DCU Slate 0:24:35, too. How could I not? I have a good deal of insight on a number of these projects, and would LOVE to hear what others think of the announcements and limited details that were provided! Chat away in the discord, linked below!
This week continues part two of our Tarot Studies 0:52:14, moving along this week with a fairly general History of Tarot, which covers a number of historical identities and moments in the cultural relevance of the decks. The Major Arcana is introduced 1:05:54, and then so is the Deck of the Month for February 1:10:08 : Modern Witch Tarot Deck by Lisa Sterle (with an introduction by Vita Ayala). If you recognize those names, it's because they're both pretty heavily involved in the comic boo world, too! I love it when hobbies/interests collide.
In our Manga segment 1:14:22, this week's Manga of the Week is My Dress Up Darling by Shinichi Fukuda! I have a deep love of both the manga and anime; this was chosen because volume 7 of the English edition is arriving in stores the day I am posting this episode, and as of me writing this summary, I already finished reading it! Sad face, but also -- it was so goooood! We've officially passed where the anime has run to so far. There is even a little Manga News 01:20:59 at the end of the segment, with one or two updates and a little gushing over Witch Watch, my current ShonenJump app obsession!
For the Comic Books segment 01:22:41, I go over what is new and interesting (IMO) this week, as well as what to look forward to in comic releases over the rest of the month! In the previous week's Picks/Reads as well as catch-up reading coverage 01:27:30, I go over a brief explanation of Marvel's Sins of Sinister mini-event, update the latest for Lazarus Planet at DC, and have a few other fun ones to share!
Finally, the Shows & Movies segment 01:35:34 kicks off for 2023 with what has been New and Noteworthy since the last 2022 episode, and the list is quite varied! I have limited coverage of Trailers that have premiered since 2022 as well 01:42:25, because frankly it is a LOT, and we can talk more about those projects as they get closer to premiering. My new ANIME section 01:44:53 h as a lot to cover, including what I've been watching in my spare time, what I've currently got on my simulcast (sort of) watch list, even including things I'm still on the fence for. And last, I speak just a minute or two on Teen Titans season 4 01:49:21, and how part 1 ended.
And that's the week! Next week will feature a lot of the same, but updated, including our first Tarot Card Lesson proper, covering the first card in the Major Arcana, the Fool. More comics, more sweatiness, and more celebration of life, coming next week! in the meantime, check out my (very much in-progress) reading summary for Big Barda, co-star of the coming Valentine's Day romance podcast special!

I'm back! It feels right. Things are going to be slightly different, but we'll work our way through it together. An you bet your butt I'm addressing Madelyne Pryor in Dark Web...
Read the podnotes for this episode or follow along: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep85-the-comeback-comics-rundown-manga-news-anime-tarot-2022-wrap-up-2023-preview-wakanda-forever-review
Unchanged is starting off with some basic news, including my own personal life 0:12:23 and what I've been up to over this break. Unfortunately it does also include an Obit section, mainly focusing on the late, great Kevin Conroy 0:16:54.
A smattering of rumors go alongside some news proper 0:23:47, which is mainly focused, at this point, on the curious mess over there at Warner's DCEU. Lots of thoughts, not a lot of actual movement on their side.
Then we come into the Manga/Anime segment 0:32:26, with our manga of the week spotlight on CAT + GAMER by Wataru Nadatani. It's a delightful and funny slice of life story that I recommend to all reader, cat lovers, and/or gamers! And only two volumes out in English, coming from Dark Horse.
I have just a little Manga Release Info for 2023 0:40:31, more of which can be found at the following links:
The newest segment of the podcast is Tarot 0:44:14. Don't leave just because of that! I have a perspective on tarot and oracle cards that will work for ANYONE! If what I have to say doesn't convince you, try this https://www.reddit.com/r/tarot/comments/9f17xj/any_nonspiritual_tarot_practicers_here/
While I'll be doing (Major Arcana) Card of the Week soon, this week we just have my Intro to Tarot and Tarot/Oracle in 2023 segments 0:50:53. More next week!
So much Comic Books! 0:54:22
I have a VERY brief rundown of the following comic book categories: Best of 2022; 2022 wrap up; 2023 preview; and a FCBD 2023 preview--which we'll cover more than just titles from as we get closet to May 6th!
New in This Week's Comics 1:02:24 isn't too long, but it's followed by the massive and much needed Comic Book Catch-Up, covering my recent reads over this break. It starts with the end of Judgment Day and Dark Crisis 1:06:47, then gives an explanation of events-so-far for Dark Web and Lazarus Planet 1:17:59.
...on Madelyne Pryor, the Goblin Queen:
More fun reads I cover include 1:25:15 Harley Quinn, Hexware, Dark Knights of Steel, Grim, Earthdivers, and more, before m y extensive Vampirella vs Red Sonja #1-3 1:40:17 coverage. What can I say, I LOVE this one! 10/10, all Vampi/Sonja fans must read. Then we get back to the others at 1:47:34 for a quick reading wrap-up.
Finally, and at long last, is my Wakanda Forever Review/Breakdown 1:56:40. This movie was a lot, for a lot of different reasons, and I very much enjoyed it. Easter eggs, background, and explanations given as needed.
I'll be back next week to cover the rest of the TV/Movies/Trailer/other visual media, since my voice is already killing me today! Two hours of recording will do that to you. Have a wonderful week, stay warm, and hope to see you next time!

Welcome to the Halloween 2022 Yancy Street Special! Who is Marvel's Satana? How has she evolved over the years? Why is Chris Claremont to blame for her bastardization? These answers and so much more, coming your way!
Text to go along with the podcast: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/satana-hellstrom-the-devils-daughter-satanic-panic-seduction-of-the-innocent-the-comics-code-full-character-history
Image Post: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/satana-the-devils-daughter-the-image-post
This podcast proudly contains far more information on Satana than any single one of her wiki or fan pages, so I'm pleased and excited to share it with the world.
On that note: some CW for sexual assault, violence against women, topics of heaven and hell, extreme personal loss, murder, attempted fratricide, sacrifice, satanic panic, classic horror tropes, general violence and lewdness, etc.
The special starts with a little necessary Background, including Horrosploitation, Dr. Fredric Wertham's 1954 Seduction of the Innocent, and the implementation of the Comics Code Authority. We then continue the timeline into the eventual relaxation of the code in 1971, and the ensuing horror trends of the 1960's-80's.
With that context in mind, we can begin talking Satana, starting with her (admittedly few) Key Comics: 0:16:44
Her various Aliases and names she's been called through the years, plus when it happened: 0:19:45
The Hellstrom Extended Family, which spread across multiple species and still holds a fair amount of mystery: 0:20:47
Satana's complete Teams and Teammates: 0:27:17
Her Allies, specifically those who are not teammates: 0:31:12
Love Interests, of course, which is surprisingly minor: 32:27
And then her Enemies, I'm sure fewer than you might expect: 0:33:21
Satana's Outfits/Physical Appearance, which has vastly changed through the years, and my breakdown of those changes: 0:37:34
Her half-demon Succubus Powers: 0:40:50
Alternate Reality/Format Versions of Satana: 0:42:38
And finally, her whole life and comic History: 0:45:22, including but not limited to the following categories: Early life; Turn for the Better, Turn for the Worst; the Basilisk; Death for Doctor Strange; Resurrection; Occultist for Hire, Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers; Between Time; All-New, All-Different Hell (and more Vegas, Baby!); and finally, her most recent appearances in Captain Marvel.
I wrap up this special with a finale I worked to put all of what I've learned and discovered into account, which I'm calling, simply, Satana's Duality: 1:08:20. It is my desire that listeners who get this far might be inspired to also care about the character of Satana, and we can see more of her in the comics, properly, again.

Welcome to another episode of Sensational She-Geek, Live from Yancy Street! Podcast Notes to follow along with this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep84-titans-s4-brother-blood-coven-of-chaos-and-wonder-man-castings-dark-knights-of-steel-manga-spotlight-etc
News this week is starting with a bunch of casting updates (0:09:43), including Coven of Chaos, Wonder Man, and Across the Spier-Verse (0:25:57). Project updates includes a shocker for the live-action Hercules, Sandman, The Last of Us (HBO), and Netflix' Gears of Wars universe! The rumor of the week comes from Tom Holland's Spider-Man (0:35:20)!
This week's Spotlight Manga (0:36:56) is Way of the Househusband by Kousuke Oono! There is also included a little bit of manga news.
Last week's comic book Picks (0:40:21) include joy, disappointment, and confusion, spread across a variety of publishers Pick of the week: Dark Knights of Steel #8! Disappointment of the week: Bendis' The Ones #1. But there's always more! Pulls for this, the week of November 9th, (0:51:22) include more amazing indie kick-offs, because this is a GREAT Autumn to get into non-superhero comics!
Finally, the DC Titans Season 4 Premier really snuck up on me, but we got it covered (0:54:51), including explanations on the comic counterparts of Brother Blood, Mother Mayhem, Trigon, the Church of Blood, Gar and the Red, Raven and her White Form, and so much more! This show has really paid off for long-time viewers.
Make sure to listen to the October Yancy Street Special, Satana and Horror Comics Explored! Other than that, I'll be back next week for a regular episode cover Titans Season 4, episode 3, more comics, more news, and more manga!

The weather is cooling down, but I'm just getting sweatier each week on the podcast! Podnotes to follow along with this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep83-the-future-of-doctor-who-reed-richards-speculation-the-great-jahy-judgment-day-dc-film-news-and-more
In news this week, we're talking Rihanna's return with Lift Me Up (0:12:29), the new co-heads of DC Films (0:16:46), a small update for The Batman's Arkham Asylum spinoff (0:23:41), the major changes for the HBO Green Lantern Series (0:25:00), news about the Witcher season 4 (0:29:12), the Future of Doctor Who (0:31:28), a new WandaVision Spinoff (0:38:41), Secret Invasion series news (0:41:54), and news about the upcoming Venom 3 (0:44:35).
I also go over some highlights from the January Big-Two comics solicitations (0:49:30), as well as what kick-offs, first issues, #1's and one-shots are coming in the month of November!
The Spotlight Manga for the week (0:52:48) is The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated, by Wakame Konbu, which is also my Halloween costume! There's only 3 volumes out in English so far, with the fourth coming later this month, so now is a great time to jump in!
This week's comic picks (0:56:42) includes the finale of Marvel's Judgement Day, and the coming week's Pulls (1:06:51) are fill with indie starters! This fall is an amazing time to get into indie comics, specifically. There's something coming for everyone!
Finally, I go through the events of the Power of the Doctor (1:14:20) Doctor Who episode, Jodie Whittaker's final as the 13th doctor. With a lot of changes supposedly coming to the show starting next fall, there's a lot of be discussed and fondly remembered.
I'll be back with episode 84 next week (and to talk that Wonder Man news!), but keep an eye out this Friday the 4th for my Halloween Yancy Street Special, covering the character Satana, plus 1970's horror exploitation trends, the Comics Code, Satanic Panic, Seduction of the Innocent, and more factors that went into and still do go into horror comics and characters today!

After taking a brief break to settle in to my new schedule, I'm back with a loaded baked potato of an episode this week! Podnotes to follow along with this episode at your leisure: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep82-rings-of-power-finale-mephisto-rumors-superman-red-hulk-quantumania-majorskendrick-appreciation-she-hulk-finale
The News begins (0:06:05) with some recent "IRL" tidbits, before getting into the juicy rumors, aka Sacha Baron Cohen 13:05 possibly playing Mephisto in Iron Heart! Plus some good Blade Director rumors, too! If you haven't heard it yet, Henry Cavill IS back in Black Adam (0:19:13), Harrison Ford IS the new Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (0:21:50), and Barbarella (0:29:01) has been cast as Sidney Sweeney!
Unfortunately, the live-action Zatanna (0:31:15) project was pushed off of HBO, but I feel like it's a good thing Marvel has a movie slow-down (34:39), pushing back a number of MCU films. Then there's Matt Reeves Batman (0:38:30) villains plans! Fianlly, my thoughts on the (FINALLY) Quantumania Trailer (0:40:56), and brief note of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (0:48:09), coming November 15th.
This week's spotlight manga is none other than Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid (49:48), by Coolkyousinnjya, creator of I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying and Komori-san Can't Decline. This one is a manga AND anime, is full of girl love, and I can't recommend it enough!
A handful of comics Picks (0:57:21) from the past few weeks prelude this week's comic Pulls (1:00:14), which includes an impressive amount of indie kick-offs! It's a great time to get into indie comics, for real.
I admit I have a less-than-pleased She-Hulk Finale review (1:04:44), but almost definitely for reasons you won't expect. If we get a season two, I hope the (new?) showrunners allow SOMETHING of the comics to have an influence on the plot or characters. Something. Anything.
But in greater news, the Rings of Power Finale 1:12:20 was even better than I was hoping! The Harfoots! Halbrand! The Stranger! The Witches? Galadriel! Celebrimbor! SAURON! This was such a satisfyingly watch, changes be-damned. I loved this, and I'm super excited for the next four seasons!
The Halloween Yancy Street Special should be out within the week, on Satana, otherwise keep an eye out for episode 83, coming at the turn of the month!
